Genesis 6-9 Noah's Ark and the Flood
Are ancient flood stories a memory of a mass extinction event at the end of the Ice Age?
Goddess Bible Study - Genesis 6-9
It is well known by now that the Biblical story of Noah's Ark and the Great Flood are not unique to the Bible. This story was directly lifted from earlier Mesopotamian versions, and similar stories exist in ancient India, Greece, and across the world.
The question is why does this story persist across cultures? Is it simply a coincidence? Modern scholars are quick to dismiss any truth claims ascribed to mythology, but could the the Great Flood story be a memory of a mass extinction event that occurred at the end of the last Ice Age around 12,000 years ago?
What can the calamities of the past tell us about the world we live in today?
