Divorcing the Goddess - Podcast Dicsussion

The Deuteronomic laws against the Mother Goddess Asherah, the qedeshas, and women's sexuality

In this discussion on Goddess Bible Study, we examine the Deuteronomic Law Codes (Deuteronomy 12–26), which embody the divorce of Yahweh from the Mother Goddess Asherah. These laws are believed to originate during the Yahwist reforms of King Josiah in the late 7th century BCE, shortly before the Temple's destruction at the hands of the Babylonians.

This is a dark chapter of history when deeply misogynistic and violent laws were written that shut down nature-based religious traditions of the goddesses, centralized worship around Yahweh, tightly controlled women's sexuality, and banned the qedesha priestesses along with the transgender qadesh priests.
